At first sight, any relation between the work of Norwegian architects Brendeland & Kristoffersen Arkitekter (BKA) and the punk movement of the 1970s seems far-fetched. Still, through their relentlessly discursive practice and focus on real social problems, the partners are invoking many of its themes. On the surface, BKA’s material finesse, careful detailing and spatial articulation defy formal connections to the dishevelled aesthetic of the renegade movement.
